In lower acuity environments, such as med-surg, vital signs data collection is typically periodic and needs to be done on multiple patients. The Capsule Neuron is actually mounted directly to a roll stand with the spot-check monitor the hospital is already using as an all-in-one solution that is incorporated with the existing design of the unit.  Vital signs are automatically captured by the Capsule Neuron for any devices connected to it, either locally or via a gateway and there is an additional screen that allows nurses to enter notations related to collected vital signs and/or enter additional manual vital signs that were taken such as temperature and respirations.

The clinician then simply reviews and validates those vitals and automatically sends them directly to the patients electronic record right from the bedside.  Vitals are updated immediately in the chart without the clinician ever needing to log into another workstation or hand-held device.  This means that physicians and all hospital personnel have access to that patient's data faster than ever before for enhanced decision making and that the nurse can quickly move on to the next patient in the unit.
