Capsule releases Mobile Vitals Plus™, an all-in-one solution for mobile vital signs capture
Andover, MA - September 16, 2010 – Capsule (www.capsuletech.com), the leading provider of medical device connectivity, officially announces the release and availability of its much awaited Mobile Vitals Plus application. Capsule’s new Mobile Vitals Plus application is a key component of their Enterprise Device Connectivity Solution, enabled by the innovative Capsule Neuron™ platform. It features a design that integrates with the hospitals’ established clinical workflow and leverages its current technology and infrastructure investments.
Created with the clinician in mind, the design of Mobile Vitals Plus features an all-in-one solution that doesn’t require the clinician to carry an additional handheld device that could get lost on a busy unit or shift. It fits within the established clinical work process because the Capsule Neuron is mounted on a roll stand with the spot check monitor the hospital is already using. The clinician can simply make rounds and take vitals, knowing that they are automatically captured by the Capsule Neuron. More importantly, validation and transmission of those vitals to the patient’s record is done right from the point of care, before the clinician ever leaves the patient’s bedside, and without interrupting work to log into another workstation. And, the large, intuitive touch screen is easy to use and easy to see, making the capturing of vitals as simple as possible for the clinician.
Capsule’s Chief Nursing Officer, Susan Niemeier RN, MHA talks more about the design of Mobile Vitals Plus. “As a CNO and licensed nurse for over 19 years it was very important to me that we had nurse involvement for the development of this product; to ensure that it would actually fit the way a nurse works and that it would essentially make documentation a by-product of care. We therefore had very close involvement and input from nurses through every step of the development process. We made changes and additions to the design based on their recommendations and therefore have features that really matter to a nurse – it works with the spot check monitors they are already familiar with and have been trained on, the screen is large and easy to use and see, and we didn’t add another device to the nurses tool belt for validation. However, what is most important about the design of Mobile Vitals Plus is that it allows nurses and nurses techs to do what they do best – focus on the care of their patients.”
