Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Training Manager with instructional design and facilitation experience to join our Andover, MA based team. The Training Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of training analysis, design, development, delivery, and evaluation for employees, partners, and customers throughout North America. This position is strategic, tactical, and highly technical, requiring the successful candidate to quickly comprehend the Capsule product line and then create and implement a strategic training plan and develop Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) conformant courses using industry standard tools. The position requires a strong interest in technology, training and development, and knowledge of adult-learning methods. This position will report to the Director of Professional Services based in Andover, MA.
Detailed job requirements:
- Conduct initial and ongoing analysis of departmental-level training needs and work with Global Director of Education (GDE) to develop the appropriate strategy to meet those needs (for employees, partners and customers).
- Conduct an initial assessment of the available product training materials and supporting documents; work with GDE to identify subject matter experts (SMEs) within Professional Services team.
- Develop and execute a training plan/roadmap to meet immediate and long term training goals.
- Communicate effectively with leaders responsible for Capsule education at the global level to help ensure a consistent learning strategy throughout the company and to avoid duplication of efforts.
- Collaborate with Professional Services leadership to determine when in the product development and implementation process training and development delivery is most appropriate.
- Design and develop an easily accessible, comprehensive library of best-practice training courses and materials for all products, including a system for managing updates and version control.
- Work with SMEs to document best practices for product usage and incorporate them into training as the product evolves.
- Ensure that all courses meet the highest standards for effective adult learning.
- Maintain an ongoing and up-to-date knowledge of innovations in adult learning, including theory, practice, methodologies and tools.
- Support staff members who conduct training in the field with both instructional design guidance and tools.
- Expand Capsule’s learning methodologies to support coaching, mobile, and ongoing/just-in-time learning as appropriate.
- In collaboration with Human Resources and the GDE, develop new hire (onboarding) training for employees which follow Capsule strategic education initiatives and support best in class performance objectives.
- Support ongoing employee training in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Coordinate biannual All-Service employee training events.
- Conduct employee, customer and partner training classes when required
- Design and develop clinical and technical training for new products as needed, using the appropriate development and delivery methodologies.
- Plan, organize and manage available internal and external resources as needed to meet training needs
- Develop and manage to a training budget (covering both internal and external costs
- Conduct ongoing training evaluation and make appropriate modifications to ensure training excellence
- Report project status regularly to Capsule leaders, tracking progress to the established training plan/roadmap
- Identify, communicate, mitigate, manage and resolve or escalate risks, concerns and issues a timely fashion
- Develop strong, positive relationships at all levels of the organization, particularly with subject matter experts and team members conducting presale or post-sale training
- Contribute to Best Practices and document Lessons Learned
- Possess general understanding in the areas of network architecture, application programming, HL7 interfaces, database and system design
- Understand the Internet, Intranet and Extranet and client/server architecture
- Have and maintain technical and healthcare industry knowledge and continued awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential impact on client engagements
- Be available as needed for training-related business travel (10-20%)
- (Starting in 2013) Hire and manage an appropriately sized team of trainers, instructional designers, content developers and tools specialists as needed
Required experience and knowledge:
The position requires a high degree of flexibility with the ability to work both independently and within a team. Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills are necessary to successfully analyze Capsule training needs and then implement the appropriate solutions in an evolving, high-growth environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, preferably in adult learning, instructional design or other training and development related field or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience designing and developing state-of-the art classroom and eLearning solutions with an emphasis on technical product training
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated successful experience in project or department management
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and resources
- Experience in strategic planning for enterprise-wide training design and development
- Knowledge of a broad array of eLearning development tools and learning management systems (LMS)
- Knowledge and application of the principles of adult learning and instructional design theories and processes
- Ability to write course content and to develop courses and training related materials using cutting-edge tools
- Top-notch presentation/facilitation and classroom management skills
- Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication
- Effective leadership skills and ability to work with team members at all levels of the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in the areas of change and conflict management
- Strong technical background and aptitude, including knowledge of software development and rollout processes
- Direct experience with project management software, such as MS Project
- Proficiency with standard MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio)
- Ability to create and manage a comprehensive library of courses, along with related assets, source materials, documents and tools, with an emphasis on ease of access, usability and version control
- Experience with Sales Force software application preferred
- Experience in the Healthcare IT a strong positive; ability to master Healthcare IT terminology and solutions a must
